Martyn Beardsley ha viscut tota la seva vida a Nottingham, ciutat que ha estat la seva llar constant.
Encara que és reconegut per la seva literatura infantil, Beardsley sent una profunda passió per la recerca històrica.
La seva trajectòria inclou la publicació d'una biografia sobre l'explorador àrtic Sir John Franklin el 2002.
Després d'anys treballant com a funcionari públic, va decidir dedicar-se plenament a la seva prolífica carrera com a escriptor.
Amb més de 50 obres publicades, la seva versatilitat abasta des de la ficció humorística fins al rigor de l'edició històrica.
